TITLE :DigiBoard 2Port Adapter Setup Fails with U.S. Service Pack 1
PRODUCT :Windows NT
PROD/VER:3.10
OPER/SYS:WINDOWS
KEYWORDS:BUGLIST3.10
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The information in this article applies to:
- U.S. Service Pack 1 for Microsoft Windows NT and Windows NT
Advanced Server version 3.1
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
SYMPTOMS
========
If you set up the DigiBoard 2Port Adapter, after installing U.S. Service
Pack 1, the Port Settings dialog box, used to enumerate and install
additional COM ports, is not displayed. Therefore, some of the
configuration parameters are not correctly written to the Registry. If you
restart your computer, you receive an error message. If you use the Network
portion of Control Panel to remove the driver, you still receive an error
message.
WORKAROUND
==========
To work around this problem, remove the adapter (ignoring the error
message) and replace the OEMNADDS.INF file of Service Pack 1 with the
version supplied from your original Windows NT media (build 511) using the
EXPAND command. Reinstall the adapter using the Network portion of Control
Panel. This version is smaller in size (62182), therefore possible
incompatibilities with other DigiBoard drivers could exist.
STATUS
======
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft U.S. Service Pack
1 for Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. We are
researching this problem and will post new information here in the
Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
